AVAILABLE 7AM AEST TUESDAY 8TH NOVEMBER

The Scene...

Suspect #1:
Scarlet Lovegood

The wealthiest of the trio, but there’s a secret to this heir:
She’s a kleptomaniac; she steals the jewels she wears
She suffers badly from hayfever, and so detests spring
As much as she loves her necklaces and rings.

The victim’s cousin, and once as close as twins
They grew up together in London, on a diet of caviar and gin
Competitive in the extreme; whatever the other had they would covet
And finally, the victim stole away Scarlet’s beloved
Brokenhearted, she fled from her cousin at last
To start a new life in Australia, and forget her whole past

Murderer Clue:
The only thing you keep closer than friends

Suspect #2:
Dr Heather Greenwater

A former spoiled brat, but forever starved of attention
A rebellious thief became her self-reinvention
She gets back at her parents by stealing from their friends
The motive and the means justifying the ends
With a doctorate in herbalism, she uses her science
To invent the mean pranks she plays in defiance

That evening, she wanted to experiment with mistletoe
A poison lethal in high doses, as she well knows
But a small amount? Unlikely to make anyone die
If injected into something like a festive mince pie…

Motive Clue: A dish best served cold…

Weapon Clue:
Dr Heather Greenwater noticed one of the candlesticks
she had stolen from her parents’ priceless collection was missing.

Suspect #3:
Ms Virginia Bloodhound

A famous television chef with far too much pride
She’s survived three husbands, who all mysteriously died
A classic high achiever who doesn’t like to lose
She collects kitchen knives the way some collect shoes.

She made her famous mince pies for that evening’s feast
And graciously offered one to the now-deceased
A mistake? Perhaps, but would she admit it? Never.
After all, people come and go, but diamonds are forever…

Motive Clue:
On the day of the feast, the trio of thieves had learned that the
famous diamond-encrusted star from the top of a Christmas tree in the tropical north had been stolen.
It was a piece they themselves had been hoping to add to their collection for years.

Murderer Clue:
It’s thicker than water…

Now you know all about our victim and suspects
You can see how all the puzzle pieces connect
The answer will be clear to the keen-eyed observer
Which of the trio committed the murder?
