What is your role at BlackMilk? Full-time glue that holds everyone together, part-time senior photographer.

How long have you been working at BM? 6 or 7 years apparently…

How did you start at BlackMilk? I was contacted by BM and asked to do some campaign shoots on a casual basis. After a while I saw BM was looking for a full time photographer for socials and asked to combine the roles into one! Now I’m a full time photographer extraordinaire.

What does a typical day at work look like for you? There’s nothing typical when it comes to BlackMilk, am I right?

What’s your fave thing about working at BM? The campaign photoshoots. It’s always so different and is always pretty fun because it’s not the usual photoshoots every other brand does. Also the people! They make it a lot of fun.

Fave BM Shoot? I’m torn between Beam Me Up and Secret Flower Business. I like them because they’re clean and minimal. They’re definitely some of our more toned-down campaigns.

It’s really hard because I like our more full on campaigns as well but they’re all so different and have their own little quirks, it’s difficult to choose just one.

Work hard, play harder. Phi always does what it takes to get the shot!

What BlackMilk work achievement are you most proud of? You probably won’t get this, but at our annual Christmas parties there are four awards that get handed out. In 2021 I got “Super Cool” and the year before that I got “Genuine Friendships”. I’m super proud of that.

What’s your fave BlackMilk piece? I HAVE THE ORIGINAL Sparkle Sparkle Black Sequin Jumpsuit – will be taking bids soon. Lol jks, it’s not for sale.

Describe your style in three words: Basic Beige White.

What do you love to do in your spare time? Surf waves brah.

Fave food? Vietnamese.

Do you have a hidden talent? It’s like I have ESPN or something. My breasts can always tell when it’s going to rain. Well… they can tell when it’s raining.

What can’t you live without? My SodaStream.

What are three items you’d take with you to a deserted island? My surfboard, my puppy and a fresh genie.

What book should people read? The Bible, it’s the best selling book out there :P 

What was the last show you binge watched? The White Lotus.

What are you listening to at the moment? Flowers by Miley Cyrus.

If you could go anywhere on your next holiday, where would you go? Probably an island somewhere remote where I can just lay on the beach and relax.

What advice do you have for people trying to get into fashion photography? Shoot and experiment as much as you can. Find your own style and get exposure to anything you can get your hands on. Almost all experience is good experience.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 5 years? I don’t see myself that far ahead! I live in the moment and just play it by ear.
