What is your role at BlackMilk? Warehouse Manager

How long have you been working at BM? On and off since 2017.

How did you start at BlackMilk? I had just moved back up to QLD after finishing a vintage in South Australia and literally saw an ad on Gumtree – of all places – and the rest is history!

What does a typical day at work look like for you? Orchestrating the inventory team to have the stock organised and accurate, and rallying the packing ninjas to get orders out the doors to our Sharkies! 

What’s your fave thing about working at BM? Even though we are all very different and unique individuals, we are one big family.

What BlackMilk work achievement are you most proud of? My Efficiency award for improving the layout of the warehouse when I was the Inventory Team Leader, and also my promotion to Warehouse Manager.

How did you get into warehouse management?  I worked my way from Pick Packer to Stock Controller to Inventory Team Leader then to Manager. 

I have a keen eye for detail and problem-solving which helps with the technical side of things. 

My manager saw leadership qualities in me and recommended me as his replacement when he decided to move on.

Being a manager has been a transition but I lead with honesty and respect for my team. I try my best to teach and assist them to grow and in return they try their very best for me.

What advice do you have for people trying to get into warehouse management? I believe any manager should lead with a team mentality. Having a team that wants to work for you because you have provided an environment where they are valued and respected is the way to great success.

What’s your fave BlackMilk piece? My Sunflower Cuffed Shorts.

Describe your style in three words Plain and fun.

What do you love to do in your spare time? How many plants do you need to qualify as a crazy plant lady? I have around 50. I also love the beach and going for a hike but I always have ticket to a gig or music festival burning in my pocket! I’ve been to about 15 so far this year.

Fave food? Dips ‘n crackers.

Do you have a hidden talent? I’m really good at colouring, I can stay in the lines.

What can’t you live without? Music.

What are three items you’d take with you to a deserted island? Sound system, friends and endless tacos.

What book should people read? The BFG.

What was the last show you binge watched? Colin From Accounts.

What are you listening to at the moment? My Liked Songs playlist is as random and diverse as Johnny Depp’s repertoire but loving Qveen Herby – Abracadabra for a pump-up song and ODESZA – This Version Of You to chill out.

If you could go anywhere on your next holiday, where would you go? Iceland to see the Aurora Borealis.
