Hey kids,
Charli here again- your friendly BM Events/Promo human, ready to talk about ze party to end all parties: BM B’Day 2013!
The Build Up
Let me start by saying that our normally (sorta) sane inboxes pretty much implode around events season.
The second that so much as a whisper gets out about the B’Day party, our inboxes are hit harder than the website during a sale. Well ok, maybe not quite THAT crazy. But, it’s our biggest, shiniest, most nylon-tastic night of the year, and errrrybody wants to make sure they’re On. The. List.
Months before the date is leaked and the emails begin to pour in, BM HQ is already in full B’Day prep mode, doing everything we can to make sure this party is off the Richter scale. From sourcing Storm Troopers, to creating galaxy candy banquets, jL and the team are working their sweet nylon-clad butts off to make some magic.
Starting with…
BM Tours
Yep. They’re a real thing. What can you expect when you embark on a BMHQ tour?
All the magic and wonder of Willy Wonka and his Nylon factory, a spesh BM tour bus, and Captain Cam pole dancing.
Nope, not joking. Not even a little bit.
We kicked the off the party weekend on Friday with tours of each BM building. With jL and Lana as our tour guides, busses full of peeps were lead around each of the sites, giving the girls a lil’ behind the scenes HQ action.
Their final destination was of course, the BM fitting room; a mystical place packed with sneak peaks, where Red Bull and selfies flowed freely.
We wrapped the Friday up with a huge podcast- the perfect opportunity to welcome all our Interstate and International sharkies to the party!
Check it out HERE!
Wet ‘N Wild
Saturday dawned…wet. And a little bit wild. But the rain wasn’t going to stop us from getting our theme park on! We hit up Wet ‘N Wild for some Wet-ter and Wild-er times with a pack of Hot Lil’ Bosses and jL. In a true testament to the sharkie spirit, errrybody powered on and partied hard, despite the rainy weather.
Sif there was any other option #sharkielyfe ;)
Party Time
4am. That’s when I got up on party day.
6am. The time I got to our office for moarr pre-party prep.
10am. The time we were actually allowed in to our venue to start setting up.
Fuelled by redbull and candy after a restless night of pre-party nerves and triple-checking ourselves (did we order enough sharks for the sharktinis?!) our events team assembled outside the venue, ready to roll out.
From the perspective of any onlookers, it probably looked like we were setting up some kind of galactic carnival. Within the first hour, we had received a bizarre array of deliveries- popcorn, fairy floss and slushie machines, illuminated furniture, body painters, R2D2’s command center, four tech/audio guys, a stage and catwalk, two food vans, a polaroid booth, 25 giant helium balloons, a videographer and spare lightsabres (naturally).
By 6pm, we were ready to roll.
And the guests did not disappoint. Sharkies rocked up decked out in their BM finest. Some girls rocked their BM in theme (shoutout to the Victoria group’s Carnival themed dress code, you guys looked killer), some rocked it cutesy, and some just, well, rocked it (pantsless ladies, I’m looking at you).
jL welcomed everyone to the event by reminding them of the 3 rules of a meet-up…
- Yes you can touch people’s legs.
- Any leg-touching that exceeds 3 seconds…you gotta ask.
- Yes you can take photos!
Then came the usual sharkie shenanigans.
A Hot Lil’ Boss runway show with our lovely BM crew (and some serious sneak peaks... BATMAN ANYONE?!)
And cake. Everybody loves cake.
Selfies.
Sweets.
Moar selfies.
Pantslessness.
And just general fun times
Then it was time for errrybody to hug it out, and bounce out.
After one final lap around the venue, Captain Cam dropped the BM party crew home where we passed out for about 16 hours, give or take.
Yeah it was mental.
But was it the best night of the year? I’m gonna go with…YES!
‘Til next time,
Charli xX
