Yeah that's right. We did a thing, and it involves epic shoes and our bffs at Solestruck. You can grab the first Black Milk Clothing x Solestruck collection here.
We've had a long history with shoes. Awesome shoes, that is. Back in 2009, or maybe even earlier, our bloggers decided that if you were gonna rock some seriously different legwear you had better go all out, and strut your stuff in crazy shoes as well.
We supported this notion wholeheartedly.
One day, the lovely Sara showed up to a photo shoot rocking her Jeffrey Campbell Back Offs.
When the pics surfaced on the website, the emails started flooding in.
"WHERE did you get those SHOES?!"
And of course there was only one place to get rad shoes in those days - and it wasn't in Brisbane, let me tell you that. It was in Portland, Oregon. So we started buying a sneaky pair of shoes here and there from the rad peeps at Solestruck.com.
On August 8, 2011, Captain Cam sent off an email to Solestruck, asking them to give us shoes. The premise was simple: Solestruck loved shoes, we loved shoes, and our 23,000 fans loved shoes. You guys also loved asking where to get the shoes (if I had a dollar...) So could Solestruck, maybe, send us some shoes to shoot in and we'd send love back their way?
On August 11 we recieved an email back. They knew who we were, which was pretty cool, and agreed to send us shoes for our photo shoots. That first email exchange ended with Solestruck saying "some kind of collab in the future would be amazing."
2013 and it's finally happened. And yes, it's amazing.
Fun fact - each shoe is named after a team member and that's us all up there with our shoes. Shak handles all our licensing deals, Charli takes care of events and promotions, I design gear that I think is cool (and hopefully you do, too) and Cam sits on Facebook all day.
The James is the most superior of all shoe styles. It's a total classic and just a littlebit tomboy. They go with EVERYTHING. I actually want a pair of these myself...
The Cam isn't important.
...Oh ok, the Cam is a super cute little loafer. It's flat (tall girls rejoice) and really easy to wear - it goes with everything and will dress up an outfit without going OTT. It's classy, think congac and bathrobes.
Charli is our street-smart, edgy girl. There's a platform and a wedge heel in there so you can still walk tall, but it's a more of a streetwear style and you can rock it whenevs.
The Shak is our showstopper. You walk into a room wearing these and peeps are gonna notice you in the best possible way.
And they look great on the foot. I mean great.
The good news doesn't end there, my friends. Oh no. We're not gonna stop at just one collab collection with our pals at Solestruck. Nuh-uh. We've got a second collection already in the works, due to launch early next year. We'll have a new shoe style, and there's gonna be a brand new prints and fabrics, too! Want a hint? Sorry I can't give you a hint. I can do this though...
I can see the future, and in it....are many fantastic shoes.
Yeah I can't wait for more of this :)
