Hey crazy kids! Charli here, hijacking the BM Blog so I can tell you all about the very special photoshoot we did for our Adventure Time release!
It's been a week since we released the Adventure Time collection, and with your orders whizzing off around the world to reach you as we speak I thought I'd clue you in on how the magic happened :)
But first a bit of an introduction! My job here at the wonderful world of nylon is to make sure all our events (liiiiike photoshoots!) are kick-butt awesome. For photoshoots, I team up with stunning shoot producer Maddie and photographer extraordinare Bonnie, and last week we were lucky enough to be shooting what I think is the most kick-butt cartoon in the world....
(Oh hey jL! Or are you going by Finn these days?!)
We set out to create the most mathematical, algebraic and Ooo-tastic shoot we've ever done.
For Adventure Time, anything less would have been:
jL threw a hefty challenge down: we gotta go to Ooo. It's gotta be real as real can be. But how!? How could we possibly find our very own, mighty land of Ooo?
Being that BMHQ is smack bang in the middle of Sunny Queensland, with the nearest Ice Kingdom over a thousand miles away and not even a square meter of Lumpy Space in sight, we had to seriously rack our brain-shacks over this one. Nothing less than full-blown chaos and colour would do.
Finally, we thought, if we can't find an Ooo, why don't we try making one? Or something that at least paid tribute to Ooo? And what better, more magical part of Ooo to pay tribute to than the wonderful world of Princess B? She kicks butt. So we figured we'd throw a party: Candy Kingdom style.
Two trips to Confectionery warehouse, and over $1000 worth of candy later...
Finally,we had the scene set; we were ready to play out some ambitious hell-on-earth food fightin' shots.
Upon seeing the finished set, there was only one thing we could say!
And then...the models arrived.
We invited the fabulous Madeleine Rae Mason, a long time BM girl crush, up to join our radical crew of model babes as Princess Bubblegum.
Our leading ladies were none other than BM allstars; Samie Robinson as the globtastic LSP and the morally ambiguous Marceline, Laura Wood as the brave (and oh so cute) Finn, and Steph Claire Smith as our fav pooch, Jake the Dog.
All our stunning models were rounded up by our shoot's #1 casting kid, and shoot producer extraordinaire, Maddi.
Sneakers laced good 'n tight, and camera in hand, our resident photographer whiz kid Bonnie set about capturing the chaos on film.
We had cake in places you'd never want cake. Tidal waves of whipped cream slapped up over walls, and over 55 bags of coloured popcorn WERE harmed in the making of this colossal food fight to end all food fights. I'm still shaking M'nM's outta my Docs. (Worth it.)
For this crazy BM kid, it was one of the best days I've ever had, and I (like I'm sure everyone else on set that day) felt truly lucky to be a part of something so magical. Colour. Chaos. Candy. And sweet, shiny, Adventure Time nylon. What more could a girl want?
Aside from LSP's lumptastic bod, of course ;)
And what did the finished product look like? I am SO glad you asked!
Best day ever? Totally. Do we wish that shoot could just go on forever? Absolutely! The release was incredible and we couldn't be happier with how the shoot turned out! If, like me, you're still suffering from post-shoot blues, just remember:
