One more in the ever growing family of Spartans. This is the baby of the family - Sheer Spartans.
I'll release these after I finish the bodysuits. Unless you're desperate.
(And for those in the 'tights are not pants' movement who are choking on your scones over this photograph, get over yourselves. And what the hell are you doing reading this blog anyway!?)
Yesterday I said I was going to tell you about why I feel quite excited about the future of Black Milk. My confidence got a boost when I realised that there is one thing that we, though eensy weensy, can do far better than the all the big fashion companies. Ready for the answer?
Speeeeeeed to market.
Think about it - how long is the process for a big label to get a piece of clothing to you?
- Get idea
- Design concept
- Send to patternmakers/sewers to create prototypes
- Organise marketing promotional activities
- Organise manufacturing with a factory in the third world
- Ship back to warehouse in the first world
- Put item in shop
... and then you buy it.
But this is what can happen with a slick little internet based fashion house:
- Get idea
- Sew a prototype
- Blog about it
... and then you can buy it that day!
Excuse me for getting a little excited, but that means that you can get a sweet design on the day it is designed! Wear it out that weekend.
That's crazy talk.
I do get a lot of girls asking for me to get stuff to them before the weekend, (and I always try to accommodate), but how cool is it go out on the weekend with a piece that was designed on Tuesday!
Now the reason I am excited about this is that I feel like I have been a big fat slow slug, slithering lethargically through the fashion world, leaving a thick gelatinous layer of slimy secretion in my wake.
No longer. In the future, when I get an idea, it's going to get made - and made available - as soon as poss. Of course, that means that styles will come and go a lot quicker.
C'est la vie, mon ami.
p.s. A couple of pics from some awesome girls (lots of luv to you guys):
p.p.s And just so I'n not completely talking about myself this post, here's a picture of Juliette Lewis. Discuss.
